In other business, council passed a resolution to participate in the Ohio Department of Transportation cooperative purchasing program for road salt for 2017-18. Also, Councilman Tom Cresanto said garbage was located in the recycling bin and wondered what could be done about it. Patrone said he spoke with Village Administrator Jason Gorby about it and Cresanto asked about monitoring it. Patrone said they could pass a resolution placing a heavy fine on anyone caught and Newton, who is also the Leetonia solicitor, said the village had the same problem and put cameras up. He said New Waterford may already have an ordinance covering the situation. In other business, Gorby’s report said the inside of the community building now has LED lights, along with the fire department and street department buildings. In the park, grass and flowers were planted around the dock and overflow, weeds were sprayed and they started sealing the playground and basketball court. On the streets, potholes have been patched, mowing is under way and the bridge was inspected on May 10 for the waterline.
